The FAU Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine seeks a highly skilled and motivated Gastroenterologist with expertise in Advanced Endoscopy and Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) to join our dynamic team, playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of our Gastroenterology program and mentoring the next generation of physicians. The primary work site for this position is the University’s affiliate hospital, Broward Health North.

The Gastroenterologist - Associate/Full Professor will have the following specific responsibilities:
Clinical Expertise:
- Provide outstanding clinical care in Gastroenterology, with a focus on Advanced Endoscopy and EUS procedures.
- Perform complex endoscopic procedures including endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), and other advanced techniques.
- Maintain a high level of proficiency in diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases.
Teaching and Mentorship:
- Act as a mentor to fellows, residents, and medical students, providing guidance and instruction in Gastroenterology, especially in Advanced Endoscopy and EUS.
- Lead and participate in academic conferences, case discussions, and journal clubs to enhance the educational experience of trainees.
- Develop curriculum, assessments, and evaluation methods for the Gastroenterology Fellowship Program.
Research and Scholarly Activity:
- Engage in clinical research, publish scholarly articles, and present findings at national and international conferences.
- Participate in ongoing research projects within the department and contribute to the advancement of Gastroenterology knowledge.
Quality Improvement and Program Development:
- Play an active role in quality improvement initiatives within the Gastroenterology program.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement new clinical programs and services to enhance patient care and the reputation of the department.
Community Engagement:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with the local medical community, referring physicians, and community organizations.
- Represent the medical center at regional and national gastroenterology conferences and events.
Clinical and Didactic Education:
- Coordinate the delivery of clinical and didactic education, including grand rounds, conferences, simulation activities, and journal clubs.
- Collaborate with faculty and subspecialty program directors to ensure a comprehensive educational experience for residents.
Professional Development and Continuous Learning:
- Stay up to date with advances in medical education, program requirements, and accreditation standards. Engage in ongoing professional development through participation in conferences, workshops, and educational forums.
Collaboration and Interdisciplinary Coordination:
- Collaborate with program directors, department chairs, and hospital leadership to ensure coordination and integration of educational activities, resources, and services.
- Foster collaborative relationships with other residency programs and departments within the institution.
Administration and Documentation:
- Manage administrative responsibilities related to the residency program, including maintaining accurate records, ensuring timely completion of evaluations, managing duty hour compliance, and addressing resident concerns and grievances.
Community Engagement:
- Promote the program's visibility and engagement within the local medical community. Participate in community outreach initiatives, medical society meetings, and educational events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- M.D. or D.O. from an accredited institution and credentials that merit appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or higher required.
- A Florida medical license or eligibility for Florida licensure and Board eligibility/certification in Gastroenterology.
- Fellowship training in Advanced Endoscopy.
- A track record of clinical excellence, including a high volume of advanced endoscopy procedures.
- Experience as a faculty member in an academic setting, with a focus on medical education.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and experience in program administration.
- Familiarity with ACGME (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education) requirements and accreditation processes.
- Strong commitment to resident education, mentorship, and professional development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with residents, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
- Organizational and managerial abilities to oversee program logistics and administrative tasks.
- Strong ethical and professional conduct.
- Appreciation of the role of holistic care of the patient and family is preferred. The ability to effectively communicate with different members of the healthcare system as well as a variety of learners from diverse backgrounds is required. Applicants with teaching experience with students/residents, experience with administrative organization/leadership of outpatient practices, and/or clinical research/scholarship experience will be most competitive.
