Lead a High Performing Division and State-of-the-art Digestive Disorders Center:

Griffin Hospital, an award-winning, independent community teaching hospital in Southern Connecticut, is seeking an accomplished Board Certified Clinical Gastroenterologist with proven leadership skills to join talented, high performing and supportive colleagues in the thriving gastroenterology section of Griffin Faculty Physicians, the hospital’s rapidly growing, integrated multispecialty medical group practice. The position includes the leadership role of Chief, Division of Gastroenterology in the hospital’s Department of Medicine. Responsibilities for this highly respected position include medical direction of The Digestive Disorders Center at Griffin Hospital – a state-of-the-art G.I. suite equipped with advanced endoscopy technology.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Gastroenterology Section within the Department of Medicine and Medical Director for the Digestive Disorder Center at Griffin Hospital.
  • Examine, obtain medical history and treat acute and chronic illnesses.
  • Order, perform and interpret diagnostic tests.
  • Create treatment plans, and involve patients and family members in those plans.
  • Initiate appropriate specialty referrals.
  • Collaborate on improvement in care delivery and service with management, other physicians and staff.
  • Work with practice management to ensure compliance with billing and coding requirements.
  • Perform procedures at Griffin Hospital’s endoscopy center.
  • Provide on call coverage for gastroenterology at Griffin Hospital. Call rotation is 1 in 4.

Education/Licensing Requirements:

  • Graduation from accredited medical school (MD or DO).
  • Board certified or board eligible (new fellowship grads) in Gastroenterology required.
  • Valid and unrestricted Connecticut medical license or ability to obtain.
  • Valid DEA registration and Controlled Substance Certificate.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical practice as a gastroenterologist.
